Tap the pencil icon on the Journal tab. Write anything — a thought, a moment, something that happened today. There's no right or wrong way to journal.
Tap the chat bubble tab at the bottom. Type or speak what's on your mind. The AI will ask follow-up questions to help you go deeper. When you're done, say or type "save" to turn the conversation into a journal entry.
In the Reflect tab, tap the mic icon. Speak naturally. When you pause, it sends automatically. The app reads replies aloud so you can journal while driving or walking — eyes free.
After a few entries, visit the Insights tab to see your mood patterns, emotional trends, and top themes from the week — all generated on your device, never uploaded.
Audio Mode turns Vox Via into a completely hands-free journaling experience. Designed for driving, walking, or any time your hands are busy.
Tap the chat bubble at the bottom of the screen.
The mic icon is in the input bar. Tap it once to enter Audio Mode. The app will ask for microphone permission the first time.
Talk naturally. When you pause for 2 seconds, your message sends automatically. No tapping needed.
Vox Via reads its reply aloud. After it finishes speaking, it automatically starts listening again — completely hands-free.
Say "save" at any point. Vox Via will turn your conversation into a journal entry and confirm it by voice. Or tap the mic again to exit Audio Mode.
No. Your journal entries, voice transcriptions, and mood data live entirely on your iPhone. There is no Vox Via server, no cloud backup, and no account. If you delete the app, your data is gone from that device — so we recommend using iOS's built-in iCloud backup to protect your phone's data overall.
The AI in Vox Via runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. Your journal content is processed locally — it is never sent to an AI provider, OpenAI, Anthropic, or anyone else. The AI is only available on iPhone 15 Pro and later running iOS 26.
The full AI experience requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later running iOS 26, with Apple Intelligence enabled. To check:
On older iPhones, the Reflect feature works with a built-in rule-based system that doesn't require Apple Intelligence — it's less sophisticated but still useful for guided reflection.
Make sure Vox Via has permission to use your microphone and speech recognition:
If you're using AirPods, make sure they're already connected before starting Audio Mode.
Go to Settings → Security. Toggle on "Require Face ID / Touch ID" and choose how long after you leave the app it should lock (immediately, 1 min, 5 min, or 15 min). You can also tap "Lock Now" to lock it immediately.
Yes. Go to Settings → Your Data → Export as Text. This creates a plain text file with all your entries that you can save or share anywhere.
Unfortunately, deleted entries cannot be recovered — there is no trash or undo for deletions. Because your data lives only on your device, we have no copy to restore from. We recommend being careful with bulk deletion.
Vox Via data is backed up as part of your iPhone's regular iCloud backup (if you have iCloud Backup enabled in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup). When you restore your new phone from a backup, Vox Via and your entries should transfer. If you don't use iCloud Backup, use the Export feature before switching phones.
Vox Via runs on any iPhone with iOS 17 or later. Core journaling and voice features work on all supported iPhones. The full AI experience (Reflect chat powered by on-device AI, AI mood detection) requires iPhone 15 Pro or later with iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence enabled.
