Privacy Policy

Our core promise

Vox Via is built on a single promise: your journal stays on your phone. We do not upload your entries, your voice recordings, or your mood data to any server — ours or anyone else's.

What data Vox Via collects

Your journal content — we never collect it.
Your entries, voice transcriptions, moods, and AI conversations are stored only on your iPhone using Apple's on-device storage. No copy is ever sent to us or any third party.

On-device AI — never contacts a server.
All AI features (the Reflect chat, mood detection, entry composition, entry summaries) run entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework. No part of your journal content is sent to an AI provider.

Anonymous usage analytics — no content, ever.
We use PostHog (posthog.com) to collect anonymous, aggregate statistics that help us improve the app. This includes:

• Events such as "app opened", "entry created", "audio mode used" — with counts and durations only
• No entry content, no mood values, no voice data
• No name, email, location, or device identifier linked to events

You cannot be identified from the data we collect. PostHog is configured to receive only anonymous event signals.

Crash diagnostics — via Apple only.
If the app crashes, Apple's MetricKit framework delivers a diagnostic report to us the following day. This contains technical crash information (stack traces) only — no journal content.

Microphone and speech recognition

Vox Via requests microphone access to enable voice journaling. When you use the voice or Audio Mode features:

• Your voice is processed by Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework
• The resulting transcript is used only to populate your journal entry
• No audio recordings are stored or transmitted
• You can deny microphone access at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy → Microphone

Face ID / Touch ID

If you enable journal locking, Vox Via uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework to verify your identity with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. We never see or store your biometric data — authentication happens entirely within Apple's secure enclave.

Third-party services

We do not use advertising networks, social media trackers, or any data brokers.

Data retention and deletion

Because all your data lives on your device, you are in full control:

• Delete individual entries anytime from within the app
• Delete all entries via Settings → Your Data → Delete All Entries
• Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently from your device

We have no copy of your data to delete on our end — there is nothing to request from us.

Children's privacy

Vox Via is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
